A Better Understanding On Metabolic Makeover

By Tiffany Gill

The term Metabolic Makeover refers to a diet that is developed and designed according to the specific state of metabolic functioning of an individual by means of selecting foods that encourage a healthy functioning metabolism, which then in turn promotes weight loss and simply just a general feeling of well-being, giving you more energy and a feeling of better health. In essence this refers to the complete changing or make over of ones dietary habits in order to increase your metabolism.

In the past many doctors believed that all bodies function the same manner when it comes to metabolism, however of the years, researched has proved otherwise and in essence genes and your biological make up will determine how your body functions and how fast or how slow your metabolism is, it is really very much hereditary.

People who can eat large amounts of food and stay slim, have a fast metabolism, while there are other people who can live on a fat free diet and be very conscious of their food intake, yet still be chubby and in many instances, overweight, this means that this person has a slow metabolism and gains weight easily.

Because there is no medication available that can speed up ones metabolism to aid in having and maintaining a healthy weigh, the Metabolic Makeover programme was designed and developed for people who battle with issues relating to their metabolism. This is done by the selection of specific foods that will in turn increase your metabolism.

The most common practice of this programme is the replacing of our carbohydrate intake such starches and breads and also increasing of animal protein intake. It is is important though not to completely cut out carbohydrates from your daily diet as your body does still require these for healthy functioning. Some people have found that replacing some of their carbohydrates with protein such as dairy products, poultry and meat, could also aid in increasing your metabolism, but also result in weight loss.

Even though the above is true, because our bodies are different, some people find that cutting down on animal protein, poultry and dairy products and replacing these with fresh fruit and vegetables aid them better in having an increased metabolism, so once again it simply proves how each body is different.

Traditional diet foods, such as the low fat foods, are not always the best option to go for as they have very little, or no thermic or fat burning effect, providing quite useless in aiding weight loss. In order for an individual to lose weight the aim is to store less fat, burn more calories and increase the fat burning effect in your body by means of consuming high fibre foods.

Overall, the goal of the Metabolic Makeover is to makeover your diet and your food intake, assess the food you consume and alter this completely so foods that aid your body and your metabolism to become healthier and better functioning.
