Holistic Efforts For A Quality Farmers Market

By Robert Sutter

There seems to be more of a focus on local business if you were to look into any quality farmers market. The idea of freshness is one that cannot be overlooked, especially when these crops are going to be sold on a local basis more than anything else. That being said, is it possible for more holistic efforts to be had in the realm of farming? Judging by a recent story that came to my attention, I believe that this change can benefit both consumers and growers in this field.

An article on Charlottesville Tomorrow went into detail about a couple's efforts in order to create a holistic, organic farm in Virginia and I'd like to think that there is quite a bit of potential here. Chris and Annie Newman worked together in order to create SylvanAqua Farms, which is a startup company. The truth is that while it is able to create a smaller amount of food for a smaller amount of consumers, the results are still ones to talk about. I believe the company's development is where discussion should be drawn.

Not only did the efforts of the Newmans prove to be some of the most effective but they were able to attain support from the general public as well. The article said that the couple started a Kickstarter campaign in order to support the farm and a total of $8,000 was raised as a result. The Newmans also sold their home to build even more funds. To say that this shows dedication to a particular endeavor is something that, in my mind, should not be overlooked.

One of the more vital aspects of any quality farmers market has to be that of expansion and I believe that such an idea can be connected to SylvanAqua. I am sure that most would be able to agree with the efforts made by this company but matters are a bit thin, since the company currently only offers pumpkin pies and broiler chicken to consumers. There are plans to broaden the horizons of this company with the implementation of eggs, broiler chickens, and items of that nature. Such a level of growth is connected to authorities the likes of Colle Farmers Market for the right reasons.

When it comes to the act of growing food in the long term, I believe that there are many different items to take into consideration. You want to make sure that the food in question will be able to reach the public in terms of knowledge and I have to believe that any quality farmers market will be able to tell you just how important it is for this to be seen. This, in my opinion, will be able to lead to SylvanAqua in the right direction in terms of greater business.
